As the Reverse Falls AU is a fan-created and fan-sustained universe, there are many different interpretations of this character, as well as its validity and role. The following article provides information about the general depiction of Mabel Gleeful, without any interferences to specific headcanons regarding her. As this is the most popular portrayal of the character, this article is written in a neutral writing style. This does not represent all possibilities and interpretations of Mabel Gleeful.

Mabel Gleeful is the reverse counterpart of Mabel Pines. She works at the Tent of Telepathy with Dipper Gleeful, and are considered enemies to Pacifica Southeast and Gideon Pines.

Appearance[]

Mabel Gleeful generally looks the same as her canon counterpart. She has very long, wavy, and silky hair that reaches her hips or knees. She is a brunette in almost all interpretations, but she is rarely seen with either white streaks in her hair or her hair being completely white, due to the effects of the magic amulet whitening its user's hair (which was confirmed in the real-life replica of Journal 3). She usually doesn't wear makeup, but she does in some depictions. Unlike her canon counterpart, she is shown without braces, but she has them in a few drawings.

Just like Dipper, Mabel is usually seen in blue-and-black suit. She usually wears a solid black leotard covered by a light blue jacket, with a black bowtie around her neck. She also wears a pair of fishnets or black tights, and a pair of light blue or black high-heeled or slip-on shoes. She can also be seen in either a blue jacket with a black shirt, a blue blouse with a black or blue skirt, or a black collared dress with a wide, bright blue panel down the front with the sleeve cuffs in the same shade.

Much like her brother, she always wears her amulet, with hers being in the form of a headband, but it could also be depicted as a hair clip or shown on her neck. She often has the the Tent of Telepathy symbol on the collar of her shirt or her chest, or in the form of earrings.

On the outside, Mabel appears to be confident, fierce, and respectable. But on the inside, she's anxious, blames herself for a lot of things, tends to overthink, and worry about what others may or may not think of her. Yet, she suppresses all of these feelings. However, she does have a dark side. She can be sadistic, cold, condescending, and vicious. She won't stop until she reaches her goals, even if it means killing or tormenting someone, which she usually does with the help of Dipper. Sometimes, her canon counterpart's craziness is reimagined as complete insanity in this AU, in contrast to how her counterpart's craziness is portrayed as just her being cute and funny.

In some stories, her personality is akin to that of Pacifica Northwest, sometimes partially role-swapping with her, while still retaining the normal role of Gideon.

Relationships[]

Dipper Gleeful[]

The twins and Will Cipher

Dipper is Mabel's twin brother and partner-in-crime, who she probably "cares" about the most. At the very least, she respects him and his powers. She enjoys spending time with him, torturing other people and his victims, or simply sitting at home and discussing her performance with him. It should also be noted that Dipper is more knowledgeable about the magic in Journal 2 than Mabel is, but that doesn't mean that she isn't aware of or interested in the magic hidden in the text.

She doesn't like it when he talks to Pacifica; it's unknown if it's because Mabel's jealous that Pacifica will steal Dipper from her, or she simply finds Pacifica too annoying for Dipper.

However, Mabel gets annoyed when Dipper is telling her to stay on task and then calls him a "killjoy", which Dipper hates. There are times when Mabel believes her brother to be a "psycho" and too much for her. Despite this, she has never completely retaliated against him; whether this is from actual sibling love or from doubt in her ability to defeat him is unknown. It has also been shown that Dipper's power and sinister amusement have made Mabel somewhat fearful before.

Gideon Pines[]

Mabel is amused by Gideon (likely because of his futile attempts to be brave in front of her and her brother), and even tongue-twists him into a date with her. From then on, Mabel continues keeping in touch with Gideon. However, over time, Mabel starts to become suspicious of him and views him as a threat to her and Dipper's plans.

Pacifica Southeast[]

Mabel constantly teases Pacifica Southeast, but Pacifica still tries to show kindness to her. However, this doesn't stop Mabel. Later on, she begins seeing her as a threat, as Pacifica begins to hold influence over Dipper, which causes Mabel to start to hate her. In reality, she is jealous of Pacifica's life and personality, but Mabel never really admitted that.

Reverse Candy and Grenda[]

Not much is known about her relationship with Reverse Grenda and Candy, other than the fact that they tend to cling to her out of either fear or enjoyment. Either way, they will happily assist in physically and/or emotionally hurting those Mabel chooses.

Will Cipher[]

Will Cipher was originally just summoned, so Mason and Mabel could get rid of Gideon. Will failed to fulfill his part of the deal, and he was made a servant by the twins as punishment. Mabel tends to mistreat Will, and even abuses him, which would be rather worrisome for the latter. In some stories, she would go through character development and start to bond with Will, so she would instead consider him as an equal. These two became close, almost like siblings. Mabel is sometimes interpreted making Will perform menial tasks for her that she is perfectly capable of doing by herself (such as combing her hair or picking up a clothes hanger), but this could be done to give him more work to do, thus making her seem like a narcissist to some extent. In some depictions, she desperately tries to understand Will, as she is confused by the way he acts, and might feel bad for him (and it's possible that she may show sympathy towards Will Cipher and want to help him out in a few lighthearted stories).

Reverse Soos[]

Not much is known about Mabel and Soos' relationship, but it is headcanoned that Soos is employed at the Tent of Telepathy, as his canon counterpart worked at the Mystery Shack.

Reverse Waddles[]

There is not much known about Mabel's relationship with Reverse Waddles. In some drawings, he seem treated very good by the Gleeful twins, and in others it seems like he was a slave, which depends on the artist who makes the art for Reverse Waddles' relationship with Mabel.

Trivia[]

  • In most headcanons, Mabel shows some psychopathic tendencies but lacking the disregard of their own safety symptom. Depending on the headcanon, these symptoms might be highly pronounced or non-existent.
  • She can summon daggers/throwing knifes, by using her amulet.
  • Some drawings depict her smoking a large blue cigarette, which apparently has magical properties of its own.
