After the new announcement of a Bill Cipher-themed book from last night, that is when I finally snapped. From now on, I am distancing myself from the Gravity Falls Wiki (unless I need to go to that wikia for image resources or inspiration for fanwork plotlines), but I will still remain active as an administrator on the Reverse Falls Wikia. Although everyone else in the Gravity Falls Wikia is hyped for the release of the Bill Cipher book coming in 2024, I am not. I remained completely unfazed for the most part, but I gradually became angrier. I have a firm belief that Bill is dead, even if he stated that he "invoked the ancient power that he may return", prior to being erased out of existence by the memory gun within Stan's mind. I personally view his possible return as a fan theory, instead of insisting that it might be canon one day.
As I have created a multitude of Gravity Falls fanworks (both for the main show and the Reverse Falls AU) to pass the time while simultaneously working on the more-important Plants vs. Zombies fanworks that I have made, I have made a decision that Bill Cipher is only alive, despite being killed in the series finale, in most of my fanon continuities. I understand if people disagree with my firm belief that he's dead, but if they guilt trip me into making a Reverse Falls-themed adaptation of the Bill Cipher book (although I have about three or four interpretations of Will Cipher being developed and planned to be shared on this wikia, even before my Reverse Falls-inspired fanworks containing Will are released on external websites), I am not going to accept their forceful requests for me to do something that I'm reluctant to look forward to. I'm just angry about all of the hype next year, when it's just a damn book.
Because of this, I will not visit the Gravity Falls Wikia as often as I used to, as I intend to distance myself from it for as long as possible, until the hype eventually slows down. My social medias (YouTube and Twitter [a.k.a X]) are out of the question, as my video recommendations and tweet timeline would be filled to the brim with batshit-insane fans' positive remarks on the announcement for the new book, and I would try to ignore those videos and posts for as long as I can. I may be losing interest in Gravity Falls and the Reverse Falls AU for the time being, but that doesn't mean I have fan-made projects of my own to compensate for my lack of excitement for the Bill Cipher book coming out in 2024. I was absolutely livid when I saw all of the announcements before I went to bed last night and while I'm at school today, as I just could not believe anything that was mentioned, and I personally viewed the existence of the book as another one of Alex Hirsch's "trolling creator" moments. But I was wrong. Really wrong. I wished it was a joke, as the other Gravity Falls books released in the previous years (the real-life replica of Journal 3, Lost Legends, and Dipper & Mabel's Guide to Mystery and Nonstop Fun) are enough for me to handle as literature examples of tie-in media based on the main show. I know that people would be like "Don't like it, don't read or buy it.", but that's just how I am — a nice and respectful guy who becomes angry when provoked (much like one of my depictions of Will Cipher). I might sound like I'm complaining, but I'm really expressing my opinion on the announcement of the Bill Cipher book in the most pissed-off way possible.
I'm sorry for the long post, but I had to get this off of my chest. Please respect my opinion. I have left the Gravity Falls Wiki for the time being, but my contributions to the Reverse Falls Wiki are still ongoing. I'm completely aware that this post was oddly-specific, but I felt like now was the right time to share it. The Reverse Falls Wikia is pretty much dead nowadays, and I'm trying to bring it back, while also avoiding contact with the main show's fanbase for quite a while. Thank you for reading this essay that I've literally been writing in class right now (which is not a part of an assignment), and I'd appreciate it if you were to respect my decision to distance myself from the canon wiki because of my dislike towards the upcoming Bill Cipher book.
